REMINDER: We don’t want to be the only ones receiving a blessing from this wonderful time together; we will be collecting donated items to give to Birth Choice. Birth Choice has asked for the following specific items that they are most in need of.

Andy goes on to remind us of a story about a young Israelite King, Rehoboam. Rehoboam was the son of King Solomon, “the wisest person who ever lived (other than Jesus).” After Solomon’s death, Rehoboam, whom Solomon chose to follow in his foot steps as king, and whom Solomon shared the importance of seeking wise council, was about to be crowned when he was asked an important request by his servants. Rehoboam asked the servants if he could have some time to think about it, which was good. Then, he went on to seek wise council from the elders who had also served with his father, Solomon, the wisest man ever (other than Jesus). Way to go Rehoboam! Except, when the elders did not give Rehoboam the answer he was hoping for, he disregarded it and found others, less qualified, who would tell him what he wanted to hear.

Haven’t we all been there? I am laughing because I know I have! Some of us are leaders and teachers and we think we know it all, so we are stuck because we are convinced we do not need to learn from others. Some of us are stuck in our sin, and so we seek other friends, or other churches that are more accepting of “who we are” and what we partake in. Anything to avoid being told we are wrong, or having to make the difficult sacrifice to change our way of life, or even harder, our mind set. Even now some of you might be blowing this off thinking you do not “need” to learn from it. If that is you, I would challenge you to go back and read it again, after asking the Lord to open your mind and heart.

After hearing Rehoboam’s decision, the majority of Israel rejected Rehoboam as King. This started a war and the nation was divided “all because a young king refused to lean on the advice of those who were farther down the road.”

Andy gives us two things to ponder:

“First, no one gets to the place where he no longer needs wise council.... We never outgrow the need for the objectivity an outsider can bring. Success, age, wealth, power do not necessarily translate into wisdom, self-control, or maturity. Besides, success of all types is intoxicating. And intoxicating individuals are not the best decision makers. So remain open to the input of outsiders. And when you can, seek it out.”

“Second, you will never reach your full potential without tapping into the wisdom of others. You know what you know. That’s all you know. You’ve experienced what you’ve experienced. That is the sum of your experience. Those are two limitations that set you up for poor decision making in areas outside the realm of your knowledge and experience. But learning to learn from those who are ahead of you removes both of those limitations.”

I encourage you to read this story of Rehoboam for yourself, and see what God has to say to you, through His wisdom. It can be found in 1 Kings chapter 11.
 

The GOOD NEWS is that a very generous woman in our church has purchased 5 Tea Tickets and has made them available as a GIVE-A-WAY!  Can you believe it?  God is so faithful and He obviously wants you to come if you're reading this and don't have your ticket yet.

At any given time, 5 ladies are making their home in the “tree house” on the top floor of La Vista's main house. Along with our efforts to refresh these rooms, we are hoping to provide the residents with new comforters, sheet sets, towels and a few extras to make the ladies feel more at home and relaxed during their recovery. We’ve selected a colorful design scheme and have searched out the best prices for the needed items. 

Won’t you consider helping us out with a monetary gift toward one of the items listed below? 

• You can contribute any or all of the cost of an item and more if you like. 
• Checks can be made out to Community and dropped by the office or by putting Women’s Walk in the memo, you can even place it directly in the offering bag this weekend.

Our youth group and childrens ministry have been out in our community getting sponsors for each car they wash. The car wash is FREE and each car they wash earns them more money towards camp. What do you have to loose? Please show up THIS Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the East Campus, and put these kids to work.

And if you did not get a chance to sponsor anyone and would like to, we will be accepting donations at the car wash.

Oh, I forgot to mention, It is FREE!!!!! Bring your car, bring your husbands car, tell your neighbor to bring their car!
